This investigation presents results on the improvement of corrosion-protective effect consecutive sealing treatments anodized Al 1050 (AlAnod). The were performed in cerium-containing and mixed NaH2PO4 + Ca(NO3)2 solutions. changes surface morphology, structure chemical composition, state elements, basic corrosion parameters studied systems investigated by SEM, EDXS, XRD, XPS, a complex electrochemical techniques (PDP, EOCP vs. timeplot, chronoamperometric transients, Rp CR at EOCP, etc.). obtained show that components conversion layers (before after exposure to model Cl−-containing media) are characterized Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2, AlO(OH), CePO4, CeAlO3 (after tests, they converted insoluble Me-PO3 Me-P4O10). We conclude observed decrease rate corresponding increase polarization resistance accomplished two-step treatment, which fills up AlAnod pores with deposits.

The present research is dedicated to the systematic characterization of surface characteristics AA2024-T3 specimens, after formation Anodic Aluminium Oxide (AAO) layer, deposition a Ceruim Conversion Coating (CeCC) and combination these methods. latter procedure was performed at two temperatures (20°C 50°C). investigations comprised combined AAO/CeCC coating primers, as well. All obtained protective layers were subjected evaluations for determination their colour characteristics, wettability topology. latter, including layer thickness, observed by both Optical Metallographic (OMM) Scanning Electron (SEM) Microscopy. outcome analysis this study provides an additional contribution contemporary discussion on primers.

Calcium phosphates are often used for biomedical applications. Hydroxyapatite, example, has a wide range of applications because it mimics the mineral component natural bone. Widespread interest in catalytic properties ceria is due to its use automotive converters. Effect electroless deposited on (non-anodized and anodized) Al 1050 with monolayer Ce2O3 + CeO2, consecutive bilayer CeO2/Ca5(PO4)3OH or CeO2/(AlPO4 AlOOH CePO4) systems indentation modulus (EIT) hardness (HIT), as well their corrosion-protective ability were investigated. For structural, chemical, electrochemical, mechanical characterization investigated systems, following methods used: scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXS), photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), polarization resistance (Rp), corrosion rate (CR) analysis, nanoindentation. It was found that HIT EIT coatings an anodized aluminum substrate much higher than those non-anodized substrate. established specific influence morphology chemical composition formed conversion layers improved effect these layers. The obtained results valuable since there no data such literature date.

This paper is devoted to the problem of magnetohydrodynamic stability (MHDS) in energy-intensive process primary aluminum production by electrolysis. Improving MHDS control important because high costs and reduced efficiency caused instability magnetic current fields. In this work, a methodological analysis modern theoretical numerical methods for studying was carried out, approaches optimizing fields algorithms aimed at stabilizing reducing energy were considered. review identified key challenges proposed promising directions, including application computational artificial intelligence monitor electrolysis real time. paper, it revealed that wave MHD metal–electrolyte phase boundary physical obstacle further specific increasing stability. The novelty lies an integrated approach combines modeling practical recommendations. purpose study systematically summarize scientific data, analyze factors affecting electrolyzers, determine directions their solution. results can be used improve environmental friendliness production.

Although their exceptional re-passivation ability, Al-alloys are susceptible to corrosion due the amphoteric nature of alumina passivation films. This issue is exacerbated by disruption these films intermetallics on surfaces highly doped ones, like AA2024-T3 aircraft alloy. The combination anodized aluminium oxide (AAO) and cerium conversion coatings (CeCC) shows promise as a coating primer. However, defective structures CeO2 Al2O3 require additional sealing. research proposes sealing CeCC/AAO layer boiling it for 10 minutes in two relatively neutral Lourier buffers, adjusted pH 7.75, mixture them. samples underwent series analyses compare impact procedure surface topology, properties (e.g., colour wettability from each set), protective ability. It was assessed after 24 hours exposure 3.5 % NaCl model corrosive medium six set. assessments included electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) potentiodynamic scanning (PDS) techniques. results indicate that borate buffer improves protection primers more effectively than phosphate mixed ones.

The paper presents a new approach towards forming Ce-based nanostructures using deep eutectic solvents (DESs) as green and large-scale media for the chemical electrochemical synthesis of advanced functional surfaces nanomaterials. Some experimental results regarding cathodic electrodeposition cerium-based conversion coatings onto AA7075 aluminum alloys involving different DES-based formulations are discussed. Electrolytes containing Ce(NO3)3·6H2O dissolved in choline chloride-glycerine chloride-urea (1:2 molar ratio) mixtures with additions H2O2 have been proposed investigated. influence operating parameters, including applied current density, process duration temperature on quality formed Ce-containing layers was studied. Adherent uniform 0.3–5 wt.%. Ce obtained Al alloy substrates. Higher values density longer durations led to higher content when mixture used. Several accelerated corrosion tests were performed evaluate performance, respectively: (i) continuous immersion 0.5 M NaCl 720 h intermediary visual examinations, recording (ii) potentiodynamic polarization curves (iii) impedance spectra at open circuit potential NaCl, well (iv) salt mist test 240 h. an additional post-treatment step consisting deposition hydrophobic layer ethanolic solutions stearic acid cerium nitrate is also considered.
