Abstract This paper proposes a solid–liquid phononic crystal-based acoustic modulator which can be effectively controlled by an external magnetic field. design is particularly well-suited for communication systems. The consists of square lattice steel cylinders embedded in water as the substrate. By selectively removing specific rods, symmetric Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI) formed. ferromagnetic material Terfenol-D inserted into sensing (upper) arm MZI inclusion. Applying fields varying intensities alters Young’s modulus material. change elastic induces phase difference output modulator. proposed achieves complete range transmission from minimum (0%) to maximum (100%). This study present novel configurations for magnetically tunable AND/XOR logic gates, employing ring resonators, cross-shaped waveguides, and Terfenol-D cylinders integrated into a solid-solid phononic crystal. The proposed design provides the varying magnetic field intensities of within MHz frequency spectrum. These gates boast an ultra-compact with footprint measuring just 249× [Formula: see text] m² 129× m², featuring two input waveguides one output waveguide, each outfitted resonators. Each resonator integrates three utilized that enable modulation Young's modulus. symmetrical configuration structures facilitates creation unique resonant frequencies adapting identically to variations in intensities. are designed be influenced by external fields, utilizing modulus occur magnetostrictive materials under various tunability operational efficiency these greatly play crucial role enhancing resonance numbers resonators dynamic properties. Tunability experiments were conducted at several values Terfenol-Ds, corresponding intensities, resulting 1.5030 MHz, 1.5032 1.5033 AND gate 1.5040 1.5044 1.5047 XOR gate. performance was appraised using finite element method, which yielded average contrast ratio 11.59 dB 12.15 gate, respectively. suggested simple yet efficient solution acoustic communication systems, networks, digital computing circuits.
