Abstract This work outlines some interesting results regarding physical properties and the photoactivity of Co 3 O 4 ZnO nanoparticles synthesized by sol‐gel method. The chemical method yields (Co ) c (ZnO) samples, whereas green synthesis using eggplant as extract produces gs samples. Structural studies XRD technique reveal formation cubic hexagonal phases for respectively. No valuable changes occur in lattice parameters upon synthesis. FT‐IR confirm oxide networks both. It also reveals creation −OH groups that enhance photodegradation efficiency. Optical data demonstrate shift absorption edge to higher energy . On contrary, shows a decrease E g value Regarding detected photoluminescence peaks, show respectively blue emission colors, both produce emissions. Photoactivity catalysts towards degradation indigo carmine (IC) dye under UV irradiation was examined. reaches 70% 54% after 180 min c, congo red (CR) 93% 63% irradiation. IC CR , presence scavengers measured. Recycling prepared photocatalysts four successive runs has indicated feasibility reusing them several times. are discussed photocatalytic reaction mechanism expected.
