Environmental pH plays an irreplaceable role in both cellular processes and production, anomalous changes within cells may lead to various diseases. To tackle this issue, we designed synthesized the novel water-soluble fluorescent probe called NAP-MP. The uses 1,8-naphthalimide as group, 1-methylpiperazine responsive 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane is introduced enhance hydrophilicity biocompatibility of probe. fluorescence NAP-MP inhibits photoinduced electron transfer (PET) process with protonation 1-methylpiperazine, resulting enhancement intensity. Density functional theory calculations have also confirmed mechanism. demonstrates high selectivity, photostability, recyclability. hydrogel prepared by can detect different concentrations ammonia air. In addition, due its low toxicity good biocompatibility, has been successfully employed observe living HeLa cells. Overall, development offers significant potential field sensing, allowing for precise monitoring levels environmental biological systems.
