Access to HIV prevention, testing and care among people with a migration background in Euregio Meuse-Rhine: a needs and assets assessment

This
study
addresses
disparities
among
people
with
a
migration
background
(PMB)
and
those
in
less-urban
regions,
across
the
HIV
prevention
care
continuum
(HIVPCC).
We
conducted
needs
assessment
assets
to
identify
gaps
between
existing
initiatives
persisting
barriers.
The
research
was
Euregio
Meuse-Rhine
(EMR),
encompassing
bordering
regions
Belgium,
Germany,
Netherlands,
involved
in-depth
interviews
fifteen
first-generation
PMB,
including
nine
HIV.
Six
factors
influencing
PMB
access
HIVPCC
were
identified:
past
experiences
sexually
transmitted
infections
(STIs)
or
HIV;
stigma
social
dynamics;
confidence
communication
healthcare
providers
workers;
system
navigation;
precarity;
knowledge
beliefs
about
HIV/STIs.
Existing
mostly
target
individual
interpersonal
levels,
are
often
inaccessible
due
language
barriers,
inadequately
match
PMB's
living
conditions
culture,
irregular
hyperlocal.
Recommendations
include
enhancing
cultural
sensitivity,
adopting
participatory
approaches,
tailoring
outreach
activities
legal
situations
context,
fostering
cooperation
work
institutions.

dynamics

advocating
targeted
interventions
that
promote

Abstract
Purpose
of
Review
Black
women’s
sexual
well-being
is
predicated
upon
having
the
autonomy,
resources,
and
access
to
define,
explore,

2,221
sources
across
two
databases.
However,

197
articles
were
included
in
this

screening
process
our
inclusion
criteria.
Socio-cultural
factors,
provider
awareness,
limited
awareness
knowledge,
communication,
motivation,
concerns
about
PrEP,
barriers,
agency,
power,
pleasure
may
impact
utilization
facilitators
highlighted
as
well
interventions,
though
limited.
Summary
To
adequately
meet
needs
increase
uptake,
there
need
address
these
factors
that
develop
interventions
surrounding

Since
June
2017,
oral
pre-exposure
prophylaxis
(PrEP)
has
been
reimbursed
in
Belgium
for
people
at
substantial
risk
of
HIV.
To
inform
the
national
PrEP
programme,
we
described
sociodemographic
characteristics
users,
dispensing
practices,
testing
HIV
and
sexually
transmitted
infections
(STIs;
gonorrhoea,
chlamydia
syphilis),
incidence
STIs.
Analysis
routinely
collected
social
health
insurance
claims
data
from
all
individuals
who
were
dispensed
least
one
prescription
between
2017
December
2019.
Using
logistic
regression
adjusted
age,
examined
associations
having
only
once
first
six
months
use.
Overall,
4559
PrEP.
Almost
users
male
(99.2%,
4522/4559),
with
a
median
age
37
years
(IQR
30–45).
A
minority
entitled
to
an
increased
healthcare
allowance
(11.4%,
514/4559).
18%
(657/3636)
younger
than
25
years,
unemployed,
allowance,
initiated
January
2019
more
likely
have
had
no
after
initiation
compared
their
counterparts.
The
rates

Women
who
have
migrated
from
sub-Saharan
Africa
(SSA)

underrepresented
among

Purpose
of
review
This
article
reviews
recently
published
research
on
sexual
health
challenges
and
HIV
sexually
transmitted
infections
(STIs)
among
migrant,
immigrant
displaced
people
(MIDP)
worldwide.
We
aimed
to
identify
current
evidence
gaps
regarding
HIV/STI
epidemiology,
needs
interventions.
Recent
findings
Incidence
prevalence
HIV,
hepatitis
B
virus,
C
virus
syphilis
were
higher
MIDP
compared
host
populations.
However,
studies
are
limited
in
geographical
distribution

routine
surveillance
data
collected.
Barriers
