Abstract Background This study examines the growing environmental problem of water pollution caused by release organic dyes, with a specific focus on harmful malachite green (MG) causing severe health concerns. Results A MgO/NiWO 4 heterojunction was synthesized through ultrasonic mixing MgO and NiWO using ultrasonication technique. X‐ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, field emission scanning photoluminescence spectroscopy UV–visible were used to material's structure, shape optical features. Photocatalytic experiments conducted under xenon lamp assess efficiency for removal MG dye. The photocatalyst demonstrated enhanced photocatalytic capabilities when dye exposed light. degradation mechanism system explained free radical scavenging experiments. Furthermore, charge transfer in confirmed electrochemical investigations. Conclusion possible Z‐scheme suggested explaining transport carriers across junction. 1:1 catalyst emerged as promising candidate © 2025 Society Chemical Industry (SCI).
