Purpose Digit-oriented spin-offs are crucial drivers due to their high entrepreneurial potential in the digital transformation market. Most of these either embed within parent companies’ network or develop independent networks facilitate growth. Existing literature predominantly focuses on how specific factors empower growth spin-offs, often neglecting an integrated exploration connections between factors. This study aims examine multiple pathways performance digit-oriented spin-offs. Design/methodology/approach Grounded optimal distinctiveness theory, this analyzes secondary data from 258 Chinese Fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) is used explore configurations by which environment, strategic logic and organizational capabilities contribute performance. Findings Neither nor alone necessary for There six performance, can be categorized into three driving pathways: oriented, oriented ambidextrous oriented. Four leading non-high summarized two blind exploitation. Originality/value Drawing existing achievements field spin-off entrepreneurship, a holistic analytical framework achieve proposed. Then, response calls complex adaptive systems integrates configurational perspective fsQCA methodology investigate Third, broadens theoretical boundaries theory context spin-offs’ entrepreneurship.
