Abstract Background Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a serious public health concern. Emotional insecurity crucial predictor of NSSI among adolescents. However, few studies have elucidated the specific mechanisms between emotional and NSSI. Methods This study employed longitudinal research design, using sample 886 Chinese early adolescents ( M age at T1 = 10.62 years, SD 0.77 years; 47.40% females), conducted two surveys six months apart to examine mediating role peer exclusion NSSI, as well moderating effect school climate. Results The results indicated that significantly mediated connection adolescent Moreover, climate moderated exclusion. Specifically, impact on was significant only in who reported negative climate, but non-significant those positive Conclusions These findings provide robust theoretical foundation practical insights help inform prevention interventions for

While the connection between risk factors and suicidality (suicide attempts ideation) physical self-harm is well established, preventive roles of social bonding dietary patterns remain underexplored. This study, based on 2021 National Ungdata Surveys in Norway among middle high school students (N = 15,430), can provide novel context-specific insights into comparable environments. The results indicated a 5% suicide attempt rate, 18.3% prevalence self-harm, 26.7% suicidal ideation sample. was higher girls, with low socioeconomic status, schoolers, non-religious individuals. Logistic regression models for showed that substance use victimization (sexual harassment bullying) were significant predictors attempts. Elevated depressive symptoms pain relievers increased risk. For ideation, predictors. Concerning self-harming behavior, risky behaviors odds, whereas binge drinking had varying effects. Victimization variables health measures also Dietary patterns, measures, self-motivation found to be protective factors, as they decreased likelihood behaviors, highlighting critical role strong connections, healthy habits, well-being.

Introduction Adolescent suicide risk, particularly among individuals with depression, is a growing public health concern in China, driven by increasing social pressures and evolving family dynamics. However, limited research has focused on prediction models tailored for hospitalized Chinese adolescents depression. This study aims to develop risk model early identification of high-risk using internal validation, providing insights future clinical applications. Methods The involved 229 aged 13–18 diagnosed admitted hospital Shanxi, China. Feature selection was performed Least Absolute Shrinkage Selection Operator (Lasso) regression, key predictors were incorporated into multivariate logistic regression model. Model performance assessed the area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), Hosmer-Lemeshow test, calibration curves, decision analysis (DCA), impact curves (CIC). Results demonstrated AUC values 0.839 (95% CI: 0.777, 0.899) training set 0.723 0.601, 0.845) testing set, indicating strong discrimination capability. Significant included gender, frequency, parental relationships, self-harm behavior, experiences loss, sleep duration. DCA CIC supported model’s predictive potential. Conclusion suggesting potential value assessment its generalizability remains be confirmed. Further external validation larger, multi-center cohorts required assess robustness applicability.
