Depression
is
prevalent
and
may
be
transmitted
within
the
family.
However,
whether
how
gender
influences
interaction
of
depressive
symptoms
between
parents
adolescents
remains
largely
unclear.
The
current
study
used
a
cross-lagged
panel
network
(CLPN)
analysis
to
examine
gender-specific
transmission
in
representative
Chinese
families
from
China
Family
Panel
Studies.
participants
included
1469
(48.3%
girls)
their
parents,
with
assessed
by
epidemiological
studies
depression
scale
2020
(T1;
Mage
=
13.80)
2022
(T2;
15.62),
respectively.
CLPNs
(i.e.,
boy-father,
boy-mother,
girl-father,
girl-mother
CLPNs)
showed
that
"loneliness"
at
T1
repeatedly
exhibited
higher
impacts
on
other
T2
across
networks.
Furthermore,
girls
were
more
likely
influence
T2,
while
boys
especially
"sleep
restlessness",
susceptible
parental
T1.
These
findings
provide
deeper
insights
into
development
mental
health
policies,
future
are
needed
explore
mediating
mechanisms
such
transmission.
