Hintikka’s theorem relates what is impossible to forbidden. It provides that if something impossible, cannot be permitted. There are logical demonstrations of the theorem. Those follow requirements classical, modal, and deontic logics. However, there also accounts based on psychological theories trying explain why people’s tendency should reject it. I will attempt account for probable rejection by people too. But my explanation resort Non-Axiomatic Logic. argue that, from latter logic, linking possibility prohibition preferable impossibility prohibition. So, does not hold in

Abstract Everyone reasons about possibilities. This article explains how they could do so using mental models. The theory makes four major claims: 1. Correct inferences are necessary, referring only to facts or possibilities which the premises refer and not ruling any of them out, for example: She left hid ; Therefore, it’s possible that she . 2. A possibility such as hid, is represented in an intuitive model, presupposes it did occur, hide , which, if reasoners deliberate, resulting model. 3. Reasoners condense consistent possibilities, earlier pair, into one possibility: 4. Inconsistencies, neither nor no whatsoever – have empty model their effects local. Hence, inference can be withdrawn with impunity there knowledge contrary. Experiments corroborated each these principles. They incompatible essentials standard modal logics, concern deductions based on “possible” “necessary”. Their formal correspond valid inferences, counterexamples true but conclusion false. And examines differences between two approaches, explores adaptation a logic account correct human reasoning. Its feasibility open question.
