Recent developments in the higher education sectors of Netherlands, Sweden, and UK concerning accountability performance measurement research have resulted a variety responses from individual academics. The concept hybridity enables us to explain these over time. Our longitudinal data consisted 100 interviews 2007 2011. There are more managerial performance‐oriented measures at organizational level, involving stronger output orientation increased formalization, leading an altered culture. At focus on appraisal expands potential importance sanctions, making professional tasks connected. levels places our theoretically developed coping mechanisms dynamic perspective. This has elaborated understanding how academics cope with management, within their institutional national contexts.

Abstract Our analysis of the literature indicates a growing prominence hybridity within field public administration. Hybrid arrangements incorporate ambiguities and controversies, but they also represent opportunities for joint action goal achievement. Implementing the value-based healthcare concept (VBHC) is a growing management trend in Swedish organizations. The aim of this study to explore how representatives four pilot project teams experienced implementing VBHC large University Hospital over period 2 years. started their work October 2013. An explorative and qualitative design was used, with interviews as data collection method. All participants were individually interviewed three times, starting March 2014 ending November 2015. transcribed analyzed using analysis. Value for patients fundamental drive VBHC. However, multiple understandings what value patients' means existed parallel. received guidance from consultants during first 3 months. There pros cons consultant's guidance. This included intensive identifying outcome measurements based on professionals' perspectives, less interest devoted measuring costs. implementation process, which both gave took energy, developed time interventions.
