Amino acids with unusual types of chirality and their derivatives have recently attracted attention as precursors in the synthesis chiral catalysts peptide analogues unique properties. In this study, we synthesized a new nido-carborane-based planar-chiral amino acid, molecule which group is directly bonded to B(3) atom, carboxyl attached B(9) atom through CH2S+(Me) fragment. 3-Amino-9-dimethylsulfonio-nido-carborane, prepared three steps from 3-amino-closo-carborane high yield, was key intermediate target acid. The carboxymethyl at sulfur introduced by demethylation reaction dimethylsulfonio derivative, followed S-alkylation. structure 3,9-disubstituted nido-carboranes studied for first time using NMR spectroscopy. resonances all boron atoms 11B spectrum 3-amino-9-dimethylsulfonio-nido-carborane were assigned based on 2D correlation experiments. acid related compounds are interest basis peptide-like ligands.
