Abstract
A
growing
body
of
literature
in
the
field
embodied
situated
cognition
is
drawing
attention
to
hostile
ways
which
our
environments
can
be
constructed,
with
detrimental
effects
on
people’s
ability
flourish
as
environmentally
beings.
This
paper
contributes
this
research,
focusing
a
specific
area
concern.
Specifically,
I
argue
that
very
particular
problematic
quasi-Cartesian

it
means
for
these

and
role
technology

Abstract
The
narratives
we
have
about
ourselves
are
important
for
our
sense
of
who
are.
However,
influenced,
even
manipulated,
by
the
people
and
environments
interact
with,
impacting
self-understanding.
This
can
lead
to
that
limited,
harmful.
In
this
paper,
I
explore
how
narrative
agency
is
constrained,
greater
lesser
degrees,
through
a
process
call
‘narrative
railroading’.
Bringing
together
work
on
4E
cognition,
specifically
using
features
socio-material
support
construct
does
not
simply
offer
up
possibilities
creating
more
reliable
accurate
self-narratives
(Heersmink
2020)
but
increasingly
tight
railroading.
To
illustrate
idea,
analyse
digital
technologies
do
neutrally
distribute
dynamically
shape
mould
in
ways
restrict
self-understanding,
with
potentially
harmful
consequences.
As
such,

recognise
