Abstract This article applies the thesis of extended mind to ambient smart environments. These systems are characterised by an environment, such as a home or classroom, infused with multiple, highly networked streams technology working in background, learning about user and operating without explicit interface any intentional sensorimotor engagement from user. We analyse these context work on “classical” mind, conditions “trust glue” phenomenal transparency, find that ill-suited describing our then draw active inference framework, theory brain function which casts cognition process embodied uncertainty minimisation, develop version grounded ontology, where boundaries understood be multiple always shifting. Given this more fluid account we argue environments should thought allostatic control systems, less invisibly support agent’s biological capacity for minimising over interlocking timescales. Thus, functionality so doing, utilise markedly different classical mind.
