Rice farming in Italy accounts for about 50% of the EU’s rice area and production. Precision agriculture has entered scene to enhance sustainability, cut pollution, ensure food security. Various studies have used remote sensing tools like satellites drones multispectral imaging. While Sentinel-2 is highly regarded precision agriculture, it falls short specific applications, at “Riserva San Massimo” (Gropello Cairoli, Lombardia, Northern Italy) farm, where irregularly shaped crops need higher resolution frequent revisits deal with cloud cover. A prior study that compared higher-resolution PlanetScope constellation vegetative indices found a seasonal miscalibration Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) Red Edge (NDRE). Dr. Agr. G.N. Rognoni, seasoned agronomist working this stresses importance studying radiometric intercalibration between leverage knowledge gained from him apply variable rate application (VRA). high-resolution SkySat image, taken almost simultaneously pair images, offered chance examine if irregular distribution vegetation barren land within fields might be factor observed miscalibration. Using an unsupervised pixel-based image classification technique on imagery, feasible split into two subclasses intercalibrate them separately. The results indicated combining histograms agronomists’ expertise could confirm classification. Moreover, uneven spatial does not affect object past studies, which can adjusted using methods described here, even images four days apart: first method emphasizes accuracy linear regression, histogram shifting, matching; whereas second faster utilizes only matching.
