Solar irradiation in aquatic systems can induce the conversion of substances from solid to dissolved phase (photodissolution). Yet, photochemical release organic nitrogen (DON) internal particles lakes remains largely unknown. In this study, suspensions algal detritus and sediment a shallow eutrophic lake were exposed simulated solar irradiation, compositional changes matter explored by measuring their UV–Visible absorption spectroscopy ultrahigh resolution Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS). The inorganic during incubations was also investigated. Results showed that light induced stronger carbon DON production suspensions, with rates 1.17 mg C L−1 h−1 0.14 N h−1, respectively, at an concentration 0.1 dry g L−1. Light both suspensions. A larger number molecules lower molecular weight continuously released e.g., total formulas increased 1349 4135 8 h irradiation. contrast, upon decreased diversity aromaticity. ammonium (photoammonification) higher rate 0.015 which may contribute eutrophication lake. This study provides new insights into typical lakes.

Abstract. Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) transported by runoff has been identified as an important role in the global cycle. Despite there being many studies on DOC concentration and flux, little information is available for semi-arid catchments of Loess Plateau region (LPR). The primary goal this study was to quantify exported driven a sequence rainfall events during concentrated season. In addition, factors that affect export from small headwater catchment will be investigated accordingly. Runoff discharge were monitored at outlet Yangjuangou Yanan, Shaanxi Province, China. results showed highly variable, with event-based concentrations ranging 5.14 13.14 mg L−1. Hysteresis analysis nonlinear relationship between flow rate hydrological process. monthly flux loading varied 94.73 110.17 kg km−2, while ranged 0.18 2.84 km−2 period June September. Variations event-driven contributed slightly difference whereas intra-events amount led evident differences export. conclusion, our case highlighted advantages high-frequency monitoring indicated largely influenced interaction hydrology antecedent condition within catchment. Engineers scientists can take advantage derived better develop advanced field work. more are needed investigate magnitude terrestrial response projected climate change larger spatio-temporal scales, which may have implications balance cycle model ecologically restored LPR.
