The Ocean and Land Color Imager (OLCI) on the Sentinel-3A satellite, which was launched by European Space Agency in 2016, is a new-generation water color sensor with spatial resolution of 300 m 21 bands range 400–1020 nm. OLCI important to expansion remote sensing monitoring inland waters using satellite data. In this study, we developed dual band ratio algorithm for downwelling diffuse attenuation coefficient at 490 nm (Kd(490)) Lake Taihu, large shallow lake China, based data measured during seven surveys conducted between 2008 2017 combination Sentinel-3A-OLCI results show that: (1) Compared available Kd(490) estimation algorithms, (681 nm/560 754 nm) study had higher accuracy (N = 26, determination (R2) 0.81, root-mean-square error (RMSE) 0.99 m−1 mean absolute percentage (MAPE) 19.55%) validation 14, R2 0.83, RMSE 1.06 MAPE 27.30%), making it more suitable turbid waters; (2) A comparison product similar Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) reveals high consistency MODIS products terms distribution Kd(490). However, has smoother finer textural characteristics than contains notably higher-quality data; (3) values Taihu exhibit notable temporal variations. seasons relatively wind speeds open that are prone wind- wave-induced sediment resuspension. Finally, equipped wide dynamic spectral waters. Sentinel-3B will be soon and, together form two-satellite network ability make observations twice every three days. This have wider application play an role complex optical properties.

Estuarine zones are regarded as the ecotones connecting rivers and lakes. Sediment dredging is a conventional treatment technology that widely used to remove internal loading in estuarine worldwide. However, what characteristic of nutrient release gate-controlled estuary how long this practice effective still unclear. Hence, sediment water samples were collected from dredged undredged regions around northern Taihu Lake for laboratory experiments, which they subjected different temperatures, depths, disturbance levels. The total nitrogen (TN) phosphorus (TP) concentrations region lower than those under stable hydrodynamic conditions. A high dynamic rate (R) nutrients sediments (RTN = 164.75 mg/m2·d RTP 5.83 mg/m2·d) existed conditions (stirring speeds: 90 120 r/min). effect temperature on form was completely static cases. loads 4–17 times greater release. For unstable conditions, bottom exceeded surface region. These results indicated that, improves long-term quality. alone may not potential risk term. Specific ecological engineering measures should be combined with restore habitats minimize pollutants.
