Amphibians are vital components of global biodiversity and fulfil diverse ecological roles, including insect population control serving as environmental health indicators. However, there is a concerning decline in amphibian populations globally due to factors such habitat loss, climate change, emerging diseases. Concurrently, the issue microplastic pollution has gained prominence because its potential harm aquatic ecosystems. Microplastics, derived from various sources, endanger organisms, especially amphibians during their sensitive larval stages. In this study, we examined prevalence stages 10 species, covering both tailed (Urodela) tailless (Anura) amphibians. We observed significant correlation between species identity, extent artificial land cover, degree contamination larvae. Notably, our results indicate interspecific differences bioaccumulation. Furthermore, research first demonstrate positive larvae anthropogenic pressure. Our findings add expanding literature underscoring intricate interplay human activities ecosystem health.

Microplastics, pervasive environmental pollutants, are found across various ecosystems, including small inland water bodies. They reported in different media, yet little is known about the mutual relationships of microplastics' properties components Here, having extracted and analyzed these particles from water, sediment, amphibian larvae 23 sites, we test within-site similarities regarding shape (morphological type), color, chemical composition (polymer type). We also provide a brief characterization microplastics sediment parameters. observed statistically significant similarity shapes colors between those larvae. Such similarity, though less pronounced, was sediment. However, type) did not exhibit any beyond what would be expected by chance. The congruence their corresponding aquatic habitats underscores profound interconnectedness among constituents freshwater ecosystems.
