Improper waste disposal is one of the leading causes environmental pollution, impacting soil, water, and air quality. In coffee plantations, each kilogram beans produced generates an equal amount husk, emphasizing urgent need for sustainable practices to process this residual biomass into valued products. This study aimed evaluate potential husks pellet production. Three husk types were selected with distinct chemical compositions granulometries: I (>5.3 mm), II (>2.6 mm <5.3 III (<1.77 mm). The was characterized elemental, structural, proximate composition. Pellets two knife heights (15 20 mm) assessed moisture content, density, length, mechanical resistance, which compared EN 14691-6 standard (DIN, 2012). Pelletizer productivity also evaluated. from had ash content 12.09%, exceeding <10% requirement. Other treatments met standard, category B. (17.55%) (18.1%) at 15 length did not meet <15% standard. remaining pellets B standards. Only origin (1.62%) nitrogen requirement international trade (<2%). higher smaller granulometry biomass. Coffee has demonstrated its production, highlighting valorization use clean energy generation, contributing greenhouse gas emissions mitigation, strengthening circular economy.

Briquettes uptake continues to be low, despite their ability offset the negative impacts caused by firewood/charcoal. Possible reason for this is lack of literature towards key parameters developed briquettes. The lack of adequate sanitation in Brazil overloads the health system and causes deaths. utilization sewage sludge hinders advancements water treatment. This study aimed to assess feasibility producing briquettes by blending with Pinus sp. sawdust. was sourced from a treatment facility, while sawdust obtained sawmill. Elemental analysis, proximate calorific value were evaluated for both biomasses. Briquettes manufactured using hydraulic press, varying proportion 0% 95%, followed thermogravimetric analysis. exhibited higher carbon, oxygen, hydrogen content, whereas contained more nitrogen sulfur. had greater fixed carbon volatile matter, value, ash content. Samples content showed better thermal resistance, 100% retaining 63.3% mass after exposure 950 °C. increased energy density. Considering elevated nitrogen, sulfur, should be limited 5% briquette production research underscores significant avenue sustainable bioenergy production.

The article presents an overview of research conducted in recent years, i.e., from 2004 until now. study has been prompted by the threat drought over large land areas which, as a result current climate change, may lead to desertification dry and hot regions world. For same reason, farmland are affected stress. At time, rising air temperatures significant intensification evaporation gradual increase soil salinity. This applies particular acres farmland, forested areas, green cities, well degraded or brownfields. As crop stability is threatened, food base world's population at risk and, additionally, industrial districts, people's health decline. Due these multistress conditions for plant growth, we propose review literature which addresses possibility counteracting unfavorable phenomena through appropriate selection species when only applicable, also specific agroecological treatments. A herbaceous woody plants useful cultivation on saline marginal lands was proposed.

Elephant dung is the camp's undigested fiber waste. For more effective waste management, conversion of to torrefied solid and formation into fuel briquettes, as well their properties, were investigated. The was improved through torrefaction at 280ºC for 150 sec in a pilot-scale reactor with feeding rate 600 g/h. elephant had 17 MJ/kg HHV, yield 79%, fixed carbon content 20%. A mixture dung, binder, water compressed 40 bars density 860 kg/m3, or 12 GJ/m3. Their H/C O/C atomic ratios range typical biomass. However, due moisture over 7%, HHV briquettes below MJ/kg. Moreover, thermal efficiency less than 7% durability issues, despite having great ratio stability. combustion these resulted 850 ppm CO. To improve combustibility this biofuel, it recommended develop production process suitable stove specifically briquettes.
