Introduction Monoterpenes, a subset of the terpene family composed two isoprene units, have garnered significant attention in research circles owing to their potential medicinal benefits. Recent experimental studies indicate that they might exert positive effects on bone health. Nevertheless, impact monoterpenes exposure health remains unexplored humans. Methods We examined 748 adults (age ≥ 40 years) from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2013–2014 explore correlation between three (α-pinene, β-pinene, limonene), mineral density (BMD) total lumbar spine proximal femur, FRAX ® scores, prior fracture history. Results discussion Our analysis unveiled inverse association one-unit increase natural logarithm (ln) α-pinene limonene femur BMD (ß = −0.027, S.E. 0.008, P 0.004 ß −0.019, 0.007, 0.016, respectively). As serum levels ascended across quintiles, there was notable decrease ( for trend 0.025). The relationship ln more pronounced women, especially pre-menopausal women. Compared subjects with at or below 50 th percentiles, those exceeding this threshold exhibited lowest mean value (0.8628 g/cm2, 0.026, 0.009). However, not statistically 0.070). Additionally, all were linked higher prevalence previous fractures, whereas β-pinene showed reduced incidence other types fractures. In comprehensive survey American aged above, correlated decreased BMD. Furthermore, our findings suggest combined effect Further investigation is essential elucidate clinical relevance causative nature findings.

Aim: Environmental exposure constitutes a significant determinant in the pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome (MetS). Nevertheless, contribution environmental factors to MetS remains ambiguous. The present study was aimed at investigating correlation between serum terpenes and risk general population. Methods: A cross‐sectional conducted among 1266 individuals from 2013–2014 National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Serum were analyzed using weighted logistic regression model. Weighted quantile sum (WQS) utilized explore relationship mixture MetS. restricted cubic spline (RCS) method employed assess dose–response them. All data analyses “Survey” package R software (Version 4.3.2). Results: population, with an average age 46.82 ± 0.46 years body mass index (BMI) 28.97 kg/m 2 , consisted 48.15% males 67.99% Whites. Among participants, 35.78% diagnosed showed that tertiles levels α ‐pinene, β limonene positively correlated OR value 1.90 (1.14, 3.16), 2.02 (1.23, 3.31), 2.35 (1.33, 4.13) elevated triglycerides (TGs) 2.36 (1.63, 3.43), 3.51 (2.30, 5.38), 3.96 (2.55, 6.15) (all p trend < 0.05). WQS indicated positive association terpene (OR = 1.65, 95% CI: 1.18–2.3), increased TG 2.69, 1.94–3.71), reduced high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL‐C) 1.46, 1.03–2.07) 0.01). RCS analysis further supported relationship. Conclusion: This suggested potential adverse effects on human health, emphasizing importance interventions maintaining health.

To investigate the use of lipid-lowering drugs and abnormal serum lipid levels in patients at risk sleep apnea syndrome. Three types Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses were used. First, a 2-sample (TSMR) analysis was used to association between syndrome levels. Multivariate (MVMR) subsequently effects confounding variables on SAS incidence Finally, drug-target (DMR) analyze drug risk.
