Microplastics (MPs) have been continuously accumulating in soil, posing significant environmental concerns due to their potential toxicity and role as pollutant vectors. Effective monitoring of MPs soils requires appropriate methods for extraction, identification quantification. This comparative review systematically examined various used MP analysis from solid matrix environments, highlighting the advantages disadvantages each technique. Soils are heterogeneous complex matrices, which can interact differently with MPs, rendering separation a challenge. Key challenges include interactions between soil organic matter detection limitations smaller size interfere accurate extraction. Specialized techniques devices required precise Digestion be effective removing matter, although harsh digestion degrade MPs. To improve liability analysis, it is critical minimize steps that may reduce accuracy such filtration, inappropriate sample size. Conversely, adjusting or combining enhance precision analysis. offers forward-looking perspective by advocating extraction approaches, thus providing more accurate, reproducible holistic framework soils. These insights anticipated guide future research promote standardized protocols efforts.

The accumulation of high amounts plastic waste in the environment has raised ecological and health concerns, particularly croplands, biological degradation presents a promising approach for sustainable treatment this issue. In study, polyvinyl chloride (PVC)-degrading bacterium was isolated from farmland soil samples attached to plastic, utilizing PVC as sole carbon source. circular chromosome strain Cbmb3, with length 5,768,926 bp, subsequently sequenced. average GC content determined be 35.45%, total 5835 open reading frames were identified. Land-based microplastics (MPs) are considered the primary source of MPs in aquatic environment, with runoff being a significant pathway for their migration from soil to surface water. Nevertheless, transportation characteristics via agricultural remain unclear. This study investigated occurrence and emission under various short-term fertilization natural rainfall using laser direct infrared (LDIR) technology. fertilizers co-migrated runoff. This study investigates the distribution patterns and ecological hazards of microplastics (MPs) in agricultural soil water proximal to landfill area Dhaka, Bangladesh, focusing its impact on ecosystems. 30 samples (surface subsurface soil) categorized into 5-2mm, 2-1mm, 1-0.5mm sized fractions 15 surface were collected, MPs <5mm. MPs' physicochemical characteristics evaluated using ATR-FTIR, Stereomicroscopy, SEM-EDX analysis. The mean abundances (particles/kg) 2800±696.42, 2320±622.09, 2040±313.05 2680±576.19, 2200±570.09, 1760±443.72 for mentioned respectively, 376±57.29 particles/L water, with PE, PP, PS being predominant polymers. Fiber film-shaped polymers dominant colors ranging from white brown. MP contamination near landfills has consequences. PLI PHI sites Hazard Category II, hazard levels III I-III soil, level IV water. PERI indicated a high risk medium-to-high sub-surface elevated findings are crucial developing effective strategies mitigating pollution shaping policies.
