Abstract The large amount of harmful particles in coal dust not only pollutes the production environment, affects efficiency and resource utilization enterprises, but also poses a risk to human health. Effectively controlling is great significance clean production. Water-based suppressants are extensively employed mitigate dust. This paper provides comprehensive review water-based suppression materials for control. According difference mechanism, divided into wetting type, hygroscopic coalescence cohesive agglomeration composite type. evaluation methods key properties such as wettability, permeability, moisture absorption water retention, consolidation summarized. results show that no longer limited single function. For example, it necessary develop multi-functional meet needs synergistic both spontaneous combustion. Driven by concept green, low-carbon sustainable development, attention should be paid development bio-based environmentally friendly suppressants. In addition, method system performance improved, further research necessary.
