This
scoping
review
explores
the
unique
challenges
and
needs
faced
by
ageing
individuals,
aged
45
above,
in
opioid
agonist
treatment
(OAT),
noting
earlier
onset
of
age-related
impairments
among
this
population.
The
literature
search
was
conducted
PsycINFO,
EMBASE,
MEDLINE,
CINAHL,
Web
Science.
A
total
28
observational
studies
were
included.
Five
topics
identified:
health,
treatment,
substance
use,
demographic,
social
aspects.
Findings
reveal
that,
while
health
concerns
are
often
discussed
literature,
limited
attention
has
been
given
to
gender
differences,
factors
such
as
financial
issues,
psychological
factors,
which
also
critical
aspects
lives
individuals
undergoing
OAT.
emphasizes
importance
expanding
research
address
these
gaps,
ultimately
aiming
improve
their
overall
well-being.
