Background Methadone is an effective and widely used medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD). Within in the United States (US), older adults represent increasing proportion of those receiving MOUD, yet little known about characteristics individuals these programs. Objectives To evaluate mental physical health younger MOUD test whether age moderates relation between variables. Methods Data this secondary analysis are drawn from a cross-sectional survey convenience sample seeking methadone dosing as part at four treatment programs two regions US. Descriptive statistics correlational moderation analyses examined outcomes pain severity, interference, self-rated health, activity, depression, anxiety across (18-49) (50+ years) participants. Results Analyses included 469 participants (mean [range] age, 41.01 [20–70] years). Older reported higher severity less worse than group ( p s < 0.05). Associations variables were generally weak-to-moderate r = 0.26 to 0.44, 0.01), weak group, although did not moderate associations. Conclusion Clinically significant associated among with facing unique challenges. Clinical implications Opioid should include only management but also assessment depression optimization other behaviors (e.g., activity) groups. Pain promotion particularly relevant targets aging MOUD.
