The integration of supercapacitors in photovoltaic (PV) energy systems holds immense potential for enhancing storage, reliability, and efficiency. This article provides a comprehensive overview recent advancements, challenges, opportunities the utilization within PV systems. Fundamental principles supercapacitor operation, including charge storage mechanisms electrode materials, are discussed, highlighting their unique advantages such as high power density rapid charge/discharge capabilities. Various strategies, parallel series configurations, well system-level control algorithms, examined to optimize management performance. Case studies real-world examples demonstrate effectiveness integrated across different applications scales. According results research, 235 publications have been made on subject last fifteen years, number has doubled five years. Additionally, future research directions focus improving density, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, addressing challenges related temperature sensitivity system scalability.
