Abstract Objectives Psychological reactions in response to disasters have been associated with increased mental health (MH) symptomatology, decreased quality of life (QOL), and post-traumatic stress (PTSD). This study provides a rare opportunity examine post disaster MH longitudinally sample adolescents. Methods From 2018-20, adolescents (12-18 years, N =228) were interviewed about exposure, QOL using the Adolescent Quality Life-Mental Health Scale (AQOL-MHS), psychological symptoms, diagnoses. Results Having an diagnosis PTSD are clear indicators worse Emotional Regulation (ER) ( P ≤ 0.03, 0.0001) Self-Concept (SC) 0.006, 0.002) QOL. Abstract Study Objectives To examine differences in the longitudinal prevalence of childhood insomnia symptoms across black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, and non-Hispanic white groups. Methods Participants were 519 children from Penn State Child Cohort (baseline [V1] 2000–2005) who followed up 8 years later as adolescents (V2) 15 young adults (S3). Mean age at S3 was 24.1 ± 2.7 years. Approximately, 76.5% identified white, 12.9% 7.1% 3.5% “other” race/ethnicity. Insomnia defined parent-reported (childhood) or self-reported (adolescence adulthood) moderate-to-severe difficulties initiating/maintaining sleep. Longitudinal trajectories three-time points odds each trajectory compared between racial/ethnic groups, adjusting for sex, age, overweight, sleep apnea, periodic limb movements, psychiatric/behavioral disorders, psychotropic medication use. Results Black/African Americans to whites significantly higher having a childhood-onset persistent through adulthood (OR = 2.58, 95% CI [1.29, 5.14]), while Hispanics/Latinx nonsignificantly have same 1.81, [0.77, 4.25]). No significant observed remitted waxing-and-waning since incident/new-onset adulthood. Conclusions The results indicate that disparities among American and, lesser extent, Hispanic/Latinx groups start early persist into Identifying intervening upon upstream determinants are warranted directly address these prevent their adverse health sequelae. Population-wide racial inequities in child health outcomes are well documented. Less is known about causal pathways linking and social, economic, environmental exposures. Here, we sought to estimate the total population-level hospitalization rates determine how much mediated by place-based exposures community characteristics.
