Although
cyberbullying
is
relational
by
nature,
prior
models
focused
on
individual
explanations
for
rather
than
integrating
contextual
processes.
We
present
the
Relational
Model
of
Cyberbullying
Motivation
and
Regulation
(RMC).
This
model
applies
concepts
proximal
processes
(e.g.,
interactions
with
parents,
teachers,
peers)
from
ecological
systems
theory
psychological
resources
autonomy,
competency,
relatedness)
self
determination
to
explain
youth
motivation
self-regulation
cyberbullying.
First,
we
review
theoretical
foundations
theories
involved
outline
postulates
youths’
influences,
motivations
for,
regulation
against
perpetration.
Then,
a
pathway
which
most
social
influences
impact
development
resources,
then
may
also
pathways
competence,
relatedness
have

indirect

self-regulation.
The
RMC

Trauma-informed
principles
and
strategies
are
increasingly
being
used

support
youth
mental
health
in
schools.

ABSTRACT
Background
In
response
to
escalating
concerns
about
the
pervasive
use
of
digital
media
and
research
documenting
impact

adolescent
well‐being

opportunities
