BACKGROUND Insomnia is a common sleep disorder, especially among the elderly, with significant impact on quality of life (QoL) and associated various comorbidities. Traditional pharmacotherapy for insomnia often unsuitable older adults because potential drug interactions side effects, making non-pharmacological interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT-I) more appropriate. However, delivering CBT-I in traditional face-to-face setting poses challenges including accessibility adherence, particularly adults. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to evaluate effectiveness an information communication technology (ICT)-based program, “Smart Sleep,” specifically designed improve community-dwelling elderly persons. METHODS A randomized, single-blind controlled trial was conducted 59 participants from Incheon, South Korea. Participants were divided into intervention group, which used Smart Sleep mobile app, control group. The group received 8 weeks non-face-to-face through application, included diaries, relaxation exercises, real-time consultations. Outcomes measured at baseline, week 4, 8, focus severity, quality, efficiency, dysfunctional beliefs about sleep, depression, QoL. RESULTS showed improvements compared there no difference QoL between two groups (F=0.998, p=.372). Participation rates program high, 94% completion rate diary tasks 100% participation CONCLUSIONS ICT-based "Smart Sleep" effectively improved sleep-related outcomes participants, demonstrating managing this population. user-friendly, coaching contributed high engagement.
