Background: We aimed to investigate the concentrations of metals, including lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), and manganese (Mn), in various types saffron. Methods: All published studies until 2022 were searched from PubMed, Scopus Web Science databases. The articles’ references also evaluated prevalence heavy metal contamination different heterogeneity concentration estimated using I2 random effect model, respectively. Results: Among 128 articles retrieved identification phase, eight included this meta-analysis. Pb exhibited highest among with an average 0.10 mg/kg a range 0.11-0.10 mg/kg. Cd had lowest concentration, 0.009 0.008-0.010 Ni, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu accordance sequence Ni>Fe>Zn>Mn>Cu. Specifically, Ni demonstrated essential metals sample, 2.81 2.76-2.86 mg/kg, while displayed 0.022 0.023-0.023 Conclusion: examined saffron was variable, which can be attributed several factors, characteristics nature plant, composition irrigation water soil used for production conditions crop cultivation.

Interest in measuring major and trace elements plants has increased recent years because of growing concerns about the elements' contribution to daily intakes or health risks posed by ingesting vegetables contaminated potentially toxic elements. The advances using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) measure plant samples are reviewed present work. sample preparation before instrumental determination main advantages limitations ICP-OES described. New trends element extraction liquid solutions fewer solvents microextractions observed recently published literature. Even though is a well-established routine technique, innovations increase its performance have been found. Validated methods needed ensure obtaining reliable results. Much research focused on assessing principal figures merit, such as limits detection, quantification, selectivity, working ranges, precision terms repeatability reproducibility, accuracy through spiked certified reference materials analysis. According literature, 50 after release first commercially available equipment, remains powerful highly recommended tool for wide range concentrations.

This study assessed the health risks and toxicity of compounds found in leachate exhaust air non-incineration devices used for hospital waste management. Specifically, it measured levels potentially toxic elements pharmaceutical two disinfection treatment devices—hydroclave with shredder (device A) autoclave without B)—at a Tehran, Iran. Sampling occurred from October 2022 to March 2023. were analyzed using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES), while cytotoxicity was evaluated an ELISA reader. The results indicated that device A contained high concentrations barium (9.80 ± 1.60 µg/m3), zinc (8.60 2.25 chromium (8.45 2.30 µg/m3). In contrast, most abundant B. Analysis showed nickel arsenic had lowest concentrations, barium, chromium, highest. Additionally, Leachate analysis Device also revealed zinc, at lower concentrations. Significant compounds, such as azithromycin, ciprofloxacin, diclofenac, naproxen, detected effluent both devices, higher A, indicating improper segregation inadequate management waste. underscores urgent need continuous training, supervision, monitoring Cytotoxicity analyses particulate matter more pronounced negative impact on human cell lines (HepG2 A549) compared Health risk assessments Monte Carlo simulations carcinogenic (PTEs) particularly exceeded permissible limits set by USEPA, B posed significantly risks. These findings highlight importance educating staff proper segregation, monitoring, implementing advanced protocols protect public environment.
