It was proposed that influences pathways by interacting immune system, mainly reducing inflammatory responses, release endogenous mediators another possibility. Exercise acts on neurons glial cells both central peripheral nervous systems. This review focuses periphery, emphasis possible glia–neuron interactions. Key topics include interactions Schwann axons (myelinated unmyelinated), satellite sensory ganglia, enteric cells, sympathetic system. An attempt made highlight several neurological diseases associated roles may play exercise-induced alleviation. Among fibromyalgia Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease. The hypothesis active skeletal muscles exert their effects system releasing myokines discussed.
