Despite recent progress in the field of urban building energy modelling (UBEM), integration occupant behaviour models is still an area need development. Although abundant for (BEM), stochastic occupancy tailored urban-level simulations are lacking, as well systematic analyses accuracy versus complexity. Occupancy aimed BEM typically introduce a heavy computational load, but small reduction might allow large increase speed. This paper proposes methods scaling up Markov-chain (MC) previously developed to fit UBEM, and compares them terms efficiency. For scales normally involved UBEM (tens hundreds occupants per zone hourly time resolution), model based on multinomial sampling proposed that several hundred times faster than original MC only slightly overestimates variability patterns.
