Background: Research has shown that social anxiety can trigger smartphone addiction, but relatively few studies have explored the specific mechanisms underlying relationship between and addiction. This study explores addiction by examining mediating role of rumination moderating gender. Methods: In five universities, 10 classes university students were randomly selected from each university.
