Abstract Earthquake location estimation using grid search (GS) method are compared with manta ray foraging optimization (MRFO) solutions for synthetic and real earthquake data from Van city, Türkiye. Both locating methods worked very well achieved similar results. While the coordinates (latitude longitude) of were obtained successfully both methods, inversion arrival times calculated noisy noise-free data, result was some deviation in depth parameter data. The parameters GS MRFO accordance made by other seismology centres. It not observed that full match centres, but centres given comparison also consistent among themselves. according performed this study is self-consistent around 24 km. As a result, has disadvantageous method, reasons such as reaching solution tardy needs applying gradual steps to accelerate it. easy, fast, advantageous when kinematic hypocentre.
