Social robots are increasingly being utilized to address mental health challenges in older adults, such as depression, anxiety, and loneliness. However, ethical concerns surrounding their use insufficiently explored empirical research. This paper examines the mitigation strategies for implementing social long-term care settings. Drawing from insights gained research across two Canadian studies involving Paro Lovot, we highlight critical role of an equity-focused approach ensure robots. We advocate respectful inclusion voices desires marginalized groups, adults with dementia. Key issues discussed include inequitable access, consent, substitution human care, about infantilization. Our work offers practical navigate these challenges, aiming that promote wellbeing ethically responsible manner living care.
