Abstract Harpoons are part of the composite technologies, widely dispersed throughout world. In South America, a unique type throwing harpoon reveals limited distribution, primarily discovered in hunter‐gatherer archaeological sites within lower La Plata basin. Specifically, they found two units named Incised Pottery and Plain which defined by different material properties but share several common aspects as well. Regarding bone tools, primary distinction lies decoration items, contrasting with ornamentation pottery. While processes underlying regional variability assemblages is not yet fully understood, various types artifacts show differences morphology stylistic features that can be linked to units. For this purpose, we examined 13 samples heads considering morphological, physical, metrical variation, well operational sequence. As result, observed variations both decoration, while structure, selection raw sequence remain unaltered. This phenomenon could attributed recent process social differentiation affecting external features, whereas internal characteristics connected technique behaviors resistant changes.
