Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), often termed "forever chemicals," are a diverse group of persistent fluorinated compounds, including the well-known perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), which has been identified as lethal to bee larvae. However, risk PFAS exposure through pollen, bee's primary food source, not thoroughly investigated. In controlled greenhouse experiments, Cannabis sativa L. (hemp) plants were cultivated in soil contaminated with eight compounds. Phytoremediation potential was assessed by measuring bioconcentration factors (BCF) both total above-ground biomass pollen. The study found that BCF for hemp pollen significant (>20.8), over 45% uptake around 3,248 μg/kg concentrated Based on these figures, estimated daily intake (EDI) PFOS western honeybees (Apis mellifera) be about 124.5 body weight per day. These findings underscore critical global threat pollinator health, implications agriculture biodiversity.

Thiacloprid, a neonicotinoid pesticide, is known to affect the gut microbiome of honeybees, yet studies often focus on immediate alternations during exposure, overlooking long-term microbiological impacts post-exposure. This study investigates influences sublethal thiacloprid administered larval developmental stage honeybees physiological changes and microbiota adult honeybees. We found that exposure increased mortality sugar intake in emerged Using 16S rDNA sequencing, we analyzed intestinal microbial diversity at one six days post-emergence. Our findings reveal significant but transient disruption day 1, with recovery from dysbiosis by 6. emphasizes importance evaluating chronic risks protect honeybee health.

Abstract Honeybees ( Apis mellifera ) are a keystone species for managed pollination and the production of hive products. Eusociality in honeybees leads to much reproduction driven by queen. Queen bees have two large active ovaries that can produce numbers eggs if conditions appropriate. These also throughout long lives these insects, up 5 years some cases. Recent studies indicated germline precursors adult honeybee queen ovary organized into 8 cell clusters, joined together polyfusome; cytoplasmic bridge. The growing demand for honey bee pollination services induces fluctuations in their populations and changes health status. current study aims to characterize the condition of managed bees three territories Department Lambayeque, Peru, from a holistic perspective, considering several factors affecting health, including management practices, traits beekeepers apiaries, colony strength, infestation rates by Varroa sp., presence agrochemical residues bread. results showed land use, with large areas crops dependent on pollination, determining exposition residues. 67% bread samples presented pesticide residues, mainly, chlorpyrifos, carbendazim, boscalid, azoxystrobin. In addition, limited expertise good practices (i.e., inadequate disinfection beekeeping materials, unsatisfactory varroa mites' surveillance, lack protein supplements, sanitary gaps) leads deficiencies strength high sp. prevalence territory, altering condition. To best our knowledge, this article illustrates impact strongly anthropized ecosystems found along Peru's coast's arid zone that territory One Health perspective.

This study investigated the impact of fipronil and lambda-cyhalothrin on foraging behaviour Apis dorsata in onion. Prior to treatment, activity was 16.11 16.88 bees/ m²/ 10 min which dropped 0.88 1.11 after first day application lambda-cyhalothrin, respectively. Similarly, reduced rates 8.83 9.24/ min. Foraging speed decreased significantly for both treatments but gradually recovered; fipronil-treated bees averaged 4.33 sec/flower initially returned 10.16 sec/ flower by 6, while lambda-cyhalothrin-treated showed a decrease from 16.66 2.66 flower, stabilizing at 5. varied with plants showing peak 1 (9.66 flowers/ min) before normalizing, increased 8.33 min, then declined 6.50 14.
