TiO2 and TiO2–SiO2 composite coatings were electrophoretically deposited on anodized 316L stainless steel substrates then sintered at 1100 °C. coating showed a rutile phase composition involving cracked surface with wide diffusion region rich in chromium element near the substrate. While crack-free an anatase comprising continuous interlayer. Formation of dense interlayer prevented substrate elements toward during sintering thus inhibited formation region. According to EIS study after 1 day immersion PBS solution, highest barrier performance belonged where its total faradic resistance (84 MΩ cm2) was 1500 times higher than 5.6 This related formed owing improving effects silica.
