Psychedelic substances induce profound alterations in consciousness. Careful preparation is therefore essential to limit adverse reactions, enhance therapeutic benefits, and maintain user safety. This paper describes the development of a self-directed, digital intervention for psychedelic preparation. Drawing on elements from UK Medical Research Council (MRC) framework developing complex interventions, design was informed by four-factor model preparedness, using person-centred approach. Our mixed-methods investigation consisted two studies. The first involved interviews with 19 participants who had previously attended ‘high-dose’ psilocybin retreat, systematically exploring their behaviours perspectives proposed intervention. second study engaged 28 attendees an ongoing retreat co-design workshops, refining protocol insights initial interviews. outcome co-produced 21-day course (Digital Intervention Preparation (DIPP)), that organised into four modules: Knowledge-Expectation, Psychophysical-Readiness, Safety-Planning, Intention-Preparation. Fundamental components include daily meditation practice, supplementary exercises tied weekly modules, mood tracking. DIPP provides comprehensive scalable solution aligning broader shift towards mental health interventions.

Meditation practice and psychedelic use have attracted increasing attention in the public sphere scientific research. Both methods induce non-ordinary states of consciousness that may significant therapeutic benefits. Thus, there is growing interest potential synergies between meditation with some research suggesting psychedelics benefit practice. Published: March 26, 2025

Psychosomatic disorders involve a complex interplay between psychological distress and physical symptoms, often exacerbated by maladaptive cognitive emotional responses. This chapter explores the role of Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) self-compassion as effective mind-body interventions for managing these conditions. ACT fosters flexibility, enabling individuals to accept distressing thoughts bodily sensations without avoidance while engaging in values-based actions. Self-compassion, on other hand, helps reduce self-criticism, distress, coping mechanisms promoting self-kindness, mindfulness, sense shared humanity. Empirical research highlights efficacy reducing symptom anxiety, depression, functional impairment with chronic pain psychosomatic disorders. Clinical applications, including group therapy models, online interventions, assessment tools, demonstrate their adaptability across different therapeutic settings. By integrating acceptance, compassion-based strategies, not only alleviate suffering but also enhance overall well-being. synthesizes current research, clinical methodologies, intervention offering comprehensive framework incorporating into treatment approaches The findings emphasize importance shifting from elimination values-driven living, providing holistic sustainable approach mental health.

Anxiety and depression reduce autonomic system activity, as measured by Heart Rate Variability (HRV), exacerbate cardiac morbidity. Both music mindfulness have been shown to increase HRV, clinical approaches incorporating these interventions show promise effective treatments for symptoms of anxiety depression. Music mindfulness, which combines listening with activities, may provide unique synergistic therapeutic benefits stress management. However, date, no studies evaluated the physiological mechanisms underlying a community-based paradigm. We used wearable technology record electrocardiography electroencephalography signals from participants moderate during also assessed impact our session on participant's psychological state. found that sessions acutely enhanced multiple measures HRV altered EEG power spectral density across various frequency bands in frontotemporal electrodes. live virtual reduced participants' state consciousness; however, only fostered social connection. Additionally, effects varied based self-reported sex. Overall, findings demonstrate effectively engages neural mechanisms, contribute treatment symptoms.

While mindfulness has demonstrated extensive benefits across diverse populations, research on its integration as a formal course and effects subjective well-being (SWB), particularly among Taiwanese university students, remains limited. This pilot study examined changes in SWB 85 students (61 males, 24 females) following an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Life (MBCT-L) course. Participants included 38 lower-grade (pre-internship) 47 senior (post-internship) students. was measured using the 29-item Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (OHQ), rated 6-point Likert scale, administered before after intervention. Results revealed significant increase students' overall scores from 3.69 to 3.92 post-intervention. Although females initially exhibited higher baseline compared no sex differences were observed Score discrepancies between pre- post-test stages varied internship status, indicating differential impacts of MBCT-L distinct demographic groups. Additionally, this validated reliability short version OHQ (8 items) use similar contexts. By conducting provides valuable empirical evidence, contributing cross-cultural understanding mindfulness-based interventions their SWB.
