Agricultural science and technology policies (ASTPs) have played a pivotal role in shaping agricultural innovation, sustainability, cleaner production practices. Understanding how ASTPs diffuse is essential for optimizing policy design advancing the green transition agriculture. This study aims to investigate diffusion of China, using quantitative citation-based approach. The goal explore patterns, topic characteristics, historical trajectories ASTPs, thereby providing insights into transmission mechanisms that can inform future improvements. We analyze 3207 ASTP documents, focusing on citation links examine distribution, dynamics policies. analysis includes tracking evolution identifying key while estimating main paths. results show top-down model dominant pattern transmission, exhibiting highest speed both short- long-term impacts. progressively expanded toward industrialization, informatization, development, with increased efficiency. process has formed three primary pathways: (i) enhancing innovation capacity, (ii) accelerating transformation technological achievements, (iii) improving system. These pathways are critical sustainable production. provides valuable highlights optimization. findings suggest frameworks implementation efficiency will be crucial facilitating sustainable, low-carbon, environmentally friendly Future research should refine data sources incorporate semantic capture more detailed mechanisms.
