The integration of the digital economy into agriculture development has transformed challenges traditional agriculture’s low productivity and inefficiency, expedited holistic low-carbon transition agriculture, fostered ecological rejuvenation rural regions. This research employs provincial panel data from 29 Chinese provinces spanning period 2013 to 2022 construct an index system for agriculture. Furthermore, it quantifies carbon emission intensity in crop farming sector empirically assess impact underlying mechanisms this integration. results highlight three key points. (1) level economy–agricultural (DIGC) China is showing a growing trend, exhibits “U”-shaped pattern, initially rising subsequently declining. (2) economy–agriculture can reduce achieve by promoting progress agricultural technology.
