Abstract Fifty million cubic meters of marine sediments are dredged each year in France order to maintain harbor activities and sustain the economy littoral territories. Because anthropogenic around harbors, can contain significant amounts chemical organic pollutants whose behavior during dredging must be addressed avoid releasing risks for humans environment. French regulations come govern management sediments, considering them “safe” possible dumped at sea or “contaminated” needed treated on land as waste. In recent years, new constraints have been pushed toward land. This is, however, challenging few channels proposed reuse elimination appears economically environmentally unsustainable. study provides an overview technical regulatory aspects related sediment aims identify discuss limits their valorization. Dredged mainly composed particles with heterogeneous grain size, some being known many applications such building materials growing media. However, several reasons put forward explain why these not reused when extracted from sediments. Several technical, socio-economic, obstacles low demand stimulated by government incentives a good framework. National could help streamline removing “waste” status creating regulated market sediment.

Water pollution is a significant environmental challenge with implications for both the natural world and human well-being. To better understand manage complex interactions within water systems, such as waste dumping in sea, system dynamics modeling has emerged valuable tool. This simulation-based approach employs feedback loops cause-and-effect relationships to capture dynamic behavior of systems over time. By simulating various disposal scenarios assessing their impacts on environment health, aids policymakers managers devising effective strategies sustainable management sites into sea. In this manuscript, we present model control. Our study entails development conceptual that encompasses sources, pollutant transport fate, effects quality health. calibrating validating using data from case Charleston Harbor, South Carolina, United States, ensure its accuracy reliability. The results highlight model’s versatility different control scenarios, particularly those involving dredging discharge powerhouse effluent. Through these simulations, gain insights potential measures dynamics. research underscores significance comprehending intricate including associated identifying control, offers invaluable support safeguarding marine ecosystems communities. conclusion, proves be powerful tool management. demonstrates utility analyzing sea provides essential findings inform strategies. The processes of disposing household and industrial waste have in recent times become a daunting task for managers growing economies like Nigeria. It has so difficult to find suitable site locate receptacles that most choose harness convert derelict mine sites such as borrow pits final dumpsites. Such actions over time caused colossal damage the environment leading other health-related hazards distortions ecosystem addition phenomenal biodiversity loss. This study was designed assess effects dumpsites on services within Aluu Precinct Rivers State. is cross-sectional survey adopted quantitative strategy it aims measure test effect using objective reliable methods. A representative sample airborne bacteria collected at three different points dumpsite High-Volume Air Sampler (HVAS). used plate count method identify quantify from HVAS samples, further deployed descriptive statistics analyse data answer research questions. Findings indicate there concentration microorganisms samples distances dumpsite, result indicates activities negative impact area, almost all except E. coli exceeds safety limits implying high level bioaerosol contamination air near dump site. recommends amongst others constant engagement with local authorities, communities, management agencies ensure effective disposal minimize environmental harm.
