Abstract This study investigates the bacteriological properties and overall quality of urban water supplies, particularly desalinated used in households at Al-Darb College. The is derived from desalination facilities Al-Shaqiq delivered through pipelines across southern Saudi Arabia, covering regions such as Jazan, Ad Darb, Abha. Novel nano zero-valent iron nanoparticles, MS-ZVI@PP, were synthesized with extracts Moringa oleifera seeds pomegranate peels immobilized sodium alginate beads combating bacterial contamination. Characterization by X-ray diffraction Transmission Electron Microscopy confirmed successful formation crystallites nZVI typical particle diameters between 18.34 to 22.4 nm. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy detected existence several functional groups C = C, O–H, C–H, O, C–O–C, related synthesis. Kinetic isotherm studies showed that pseudo-second-order model Freundlich best fit represents adhesion mechanism. Optimization response surface methods Box-Behnken design resulted a removal effectiveness 99.8% disinfectant conc. 30 g L− 1, contact time 6 hours, E. coli concentration 160 × 106 CFU/mL. Real Red Sea samples have efficacy, under proposed conditions, regarding levels total coliforms, fecal about 98.2, 97.2%, 96.5% 6-hour treatment. Application MS-ZVI@PP worked similarly successfully four tests cycles treatments. Results here support Phytofabricated ensures disinfection efficiently, inexpensively, novelty environment-friendly.
