Ecosystems are being disrupted by climate change and habitat fragmentation, which affect species survival through altered mating, feeding, migration patterns. Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand, harbors a unique hydrological network that supports rich freshwater fish biodiversity. Blue mahseer ( Neolissochilus stracheyi ), is restricted to headwater streams in Son, particularly sensitive disturbances has experienced population decline. Despite their vulnerability information on the genetic diversity, structure, environmental drivers of distribution remains limited. In this study, microsatellite genotyping mitochondrial DNA displacement loop sequence analysis were used assess diversity structure five blue populations with aim identifying reliable conservation units for effective management. Low levels across identified (expected heterozygosity = 0.452 ± 0.037; allelic richness 3.150 0.506) no evidence inbreeding or outbreeding. A forecasted drop below 0.1 within 50 years indicated urgency attention. The clustered into three evolutionarily significant (ESUs) based historical isolation, phylogenetic distinctness, differentiation. Habitat suitability was assessed using MaxEnt modeling, distance rivers annual mean total precipitation as variables. correlation between differentiation geographical suggested conditions primarily influence structure. Stocking ESUs differing stocks discouraged avoid negative effects. comprehensive understanding dynamics, informed integration ecological data, needed inform strategies resource management Son.

DNA barcoding without assessing reliability and validity causes taxonomic errors of species identification, which is responsible for disruptions their conservation aquaculture industry. Although facilitates molecular identification phylogenetic analysis species, its availability in clariid catfish lineage remains uncertain. In this study, was developed validated catfish. 2,970 barcode sequences from mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) b (Cytb) genes D-loop were analyzed 37 species. The highest intraspecific nearest neighbor distances 85.47%, 98.03%, 89.10% COI, Cytb, sequences, respectively. This suggests that the Cytb gene most appropriate identifying can serve as a standard region barcoding. A positive gap between interspecific sequence divergence observed dataset but not COI datasets. Intraspecific variation typically less than 4.4%, whereas generally more 66.9%. However, complex detected walking significant North African These findings suggest need to focus on developing system classifying properly validate efficacy wider range With an enriched database multiple target genus, be accurate biodiversity assessment facilitated.
