Abstract Two coordination polymers were prepared by the reaction of terephthalic acid (H 2 TPA) with zinc(II) and copper(II) metal ions. The structures determined elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), UV‒visible thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). obtained data revealed that exhibit an infinite 1D chain. FTIR results indicated geometries surrounding centers close to tetrahedral, was coordinated in a dibasic tetradentate manner through deprotonated hydroxyl carbonyl oxygen atoms from both sides H TPA, forming five-membered chelate rings. polymers' thermal degradation behavior examined. Coats–Redfern method used determine thermodynamic kinetic characteristics deterioration. Under UV light, photocatalytic properties for methyl orange investigated. Investigations also conducted on influence variables rate degradation, including amount catalyst pH dye solution. However, produced had exceptional activity. When O added, efficiency increased. breakdown MO after 150 min irradiation is 91.79 94.98% Zn(II) Cu(II) polymers, respectively.
