Abstract In this study novel natural fibers were extracted from Rumex obtusifolius L. Extracted dried for further analysis. The chemical composition was analyzed, revealing the following fiber contents: cellulose at 63.52 ± 1.51 %, hemicellulose 27.15 0.72 and lignin 9.35 0.57 %. Thermal behavior of investigated by using thermogravimetric derivative analyses (TG DTG) it found that thermally stable up to 237.55 °C (T onset ) maximum degradation temperature max determined as 354.67 °C. Fiber diameter varied in range 226–539 µm density measured 1.12 0.74 g cm −3 . crystalline structure examined through X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, crystallinity index (CI) crystallite size (CS) based on corresponding patterns. CI CS values 69.81 % 3.08 nm, respectively. mechanical properties evaluated a single tensile testing method. strength, elastic modulus, strain break 192.81 43.33 MPa, 14.56 3.27 GPa, 1.45 0.43 Result showed R. are suitable composite applications reinforcement material.
