This study investigated the modification of polyethersulfone (PES) ultrafiltration membranes with TiO2 and Fe2O3–TiO2 nanoparticles to enhance their hydrophilicity biofouling resistance against marine microalgae Chlorella vulgaris. It is a common freshwater microalga that readily forms biofilms on membrane surfaces, leading significant flux decline increased operational costs in processes.
