ABSTRACT Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogels have been extensively utilized in cartilage repair due to their hydrophilicity and superior biocompatibility. However, achieving materials with optimal mechanical, structural, biological properties has remained challenging. In this study, multiple groups of composite were prepared using PVA, chitosan, agarose via a freeze–thaw cycle method, performances comprehensively evaluated. We identified that hydrogel consisting 15 wt% 1.5 1 possessed porous structure, high tensile strength, suitable water content, swelling rate, alongside excellent blood compatibility noncytotoxicity. Building on formulation, novel was developed by incorporating astragalus polysaccharide. This new assessed for its biocompatibility anti‐inflammatory vitro. The findings revealed enhanced significantly promoted cell growth adhesion, inhibited the inflammatory response induced lipopolysaccharide, positioning it as promising candidate materials.
