Sulforaphane (SFN) is a natural isothiocyanate compound with multiple bioactive effects, abundantly found in cruciferous vegetables. SFN and cadmium (Cd) were limited their application as chemotherapeutic agents due to insufficient cellular uptake, low bioavailability, high systemic toxicity, respectively. In this study, mPEG-PLGA nanoparticles used carrier load Cd-γ-PGA conjugates SFN, enabling favorable drug release under acidic microenvironments excellent pH responsiveness. The NP-Cd-SFN exhibited particle size of 102.1 nm, zeta potential -14.48 mV, PDI value 0.257. These characteristics contribute the nanoparticles’ prolonged circulation bloodstream ability passively target tumors. Compared single-dose groups combined Cd + group, group significantly reduced viability HepG2 cells increased apoptosis rate by inducing mitochondrial oxidative stress promoting cell apoptosis. Overall, addition encapsulation enhanced therapeutic effects on cells.
