The interspecies electron transfer (IET) between microbes and archaea is the key to how anaerobic digestion process performs. However, renewable energy technology that utilizes application of a bioelectrochemical system together with additives such as magnetite-nanoparticles can promote both direct (DIET) well indirect (IIET). This has several advantages, including higher removal toxic pollutants present in municipal wastewater, biomass conversion, greater electrochemical efficiencies. review explores synergistic influence systems on complex substrates sewage sludge. discussions mechanisms limitations conventional process. In addition, applicability syntrophic, metabolic, catalytic, enzymatic, cation exchange activities are highlighted. effect bio-additives operational factors explored.
