The infection by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is associated not only with the development of disease but also long-term symptoms or post-acute sequelae SARS-CoV-2 (PASC). Multiple lines evidence support that some viral antigens and RNA can persist for up to 15 months in multiple organs body, often after apparent clearance from upper system, possibly leading persistence symptoms. Activation immune system observed a prolonged time, providing indirect elements infection. In gastrointestinal tract, could stimulate shaping local microbiota potential systemic effects. All these interactions need be investigated, taking into account predisposing factors, multiplicity pathogenic mechanisms, stratifying populations vulnerable individuals, particularly women, children, immunocompromised where may present additional challenges.

SARS-CoV-2 is a highly infectious virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, it important to assess risk of infection, especially in persistently positive patients. Rapid discrimination between and non-infectious viruses aids determining whether prevention, control, treatment measures are necessary. For this purpose, method was developed utilized involving pre-treatment with 50 µM propidium monoazide (PMAxx, DNA intercalant) combined digital droplet PCR (ddPCR). The ddPCR performed on 40 nasopharyngeal swabs (NPSs) both before after PMAxx, revealing reduction viral load at mean 0.9 Log copies/mL (SD ± 0.6 copies/mL). Furthermore, six samples were stratified based Ct values RNA (Ct < 20, 20 30, > 30) analyzed compare results obtained via isolation negative-chain PCR. Of five found PMAxx treatment, two showed highest post-treatment loads. isolated vitro from negative strand chains detected. In three NPS samples, SARS CoV-2 present low level; not vitro, and, when detected, negative. Our indicate that established useful within intact capable causing infection.
