Older adults often manage multiple medications simultaneously, contributing to significant pill burden. Pill burden is a major concern for both patients and providers alike, student pharmacists may play role in decreasing that Few studies exist evaluating pharmacists' roles perceptions of deprescribing the healthcare team. Thus, aim this study was explore pharmacist regarding their pharmacy curricula. This used focus group discussion (FGD) methodology facilitate on among pharmacists. The theory planned behavior (TPB) informed conceptualization study, data collection, thematic analysis. Student enrolled three different colleges across various geographical regions U.S. were recruited participate study. Data collection occurred Fall 2021, recruitment proceeded until saturation achieved. audio recordings transcribed verbatim, transcripts uploaded into Dedoose®, qualitative software facilitated inductive codes grouped categories based similarities resulted themes.Three colleges, totaling 1366 geographic U.S., invited (UTHSC, N = 682; UNE, 158, University Arizona, 526). Twenty-six participated four FGDs. Of 26 participants, fourteen self-identified as male two declined state gender identity. mean age 24 years old, with participants ranging from 21 37 old. Thematic analysis revealed themes: (1) indicated they possessed limited information about process, which best illustrated by following quote: "I think whole gap!"; (2) recommended increasing emphasis curricula.Student identified few educational experiences curriculum while demonstrating strong desire more curricula. This highlights an opportunity improve integration education curricula, should evaluate whether, where, what extent incorporation topic curricula appropriate.

Abstract Background There is a high burden of antipsychotic use in residential aged care facilities (RACFs) and there concern regarding potential inappropriate prescribing antipsychotics response to mild behavioural symptoms. Antipsychotic has been associated with higher risk mortality community-dwelling older adults dementia, but few studies have examined associations upon RACF entry. Aims To examine between incident for people without diagnosed dementia RACFs. Methods A retrospective cohort study, employing new-user design (individuals did not receive an 6 months before enrolment) 265,820 who accessed RACFs Australia 1/4/2008 30/6/2015 was conducted. Cox regression models were used adjusted the first 100 days entry mortality. Results In after entering care, 29,455 residents (11.1%) dispensed antipsychotic. 180,956 (68.1%) died [38,249 (14.4%) related cerebrovascular causes] over median 2.1 years (interquartile range 1.0–3.6) follow-up. Of included, 119,665 (45.0%) had diagnosis dementia. Incident (adjusted hazard ratio 1.20, 95% confidence interval 1.18–1.22) (1.28, 1.24–1.31). Objectives The aims of our study were to examine the anticholinergic drug use and assess association between burden cognitive function in multimorbid elderly patients MultiCare cohort. Setting was conducted as a longitudinal cohort primary care, located eight different centres Germany. Participants 3189 (59.3% female). Primary secondary outcome measures Baseline data used for following analyses. Drugs classified according well-established scale (ADS) recently published German (German ACB). Cognitive measured using letter digit substitution test (LDST) mixed-effect multivariate linear regression performed calculate influence on function. Results Patients 1764 drugs ADS 2750 anticholinergics ACB score (prevalence 38.4% 53.7%, respectively). mean 0.8 (±1.3), 1.2 (±1.6) per patient. most common furosemide (5.8%) metformin (13.7%). majority identified with low potential: 80.2% 73.4% (ACB), respectively. An increasing associated reduced LDST (−0.26; p=0.008 −0.24; p=0.003, Conclusion Multimorbid are high risk score. We especially need gain greater awareness contribution potential from cardiovascular system. As is patients, importance rational prescribing also deprescribing needs be further evaluated. Abstract Background Polypharmacy is principal cause of potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) in elderly patients, which include over prescribing, under and misprescribing. Methods Elderly subjects (≥60 years), either sex, receiving two or more for one chronic ailments, attending Geriatrics Outpatient Department (OPD), at All India Institute Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi, were included. Their prescriptions assessed PIMs by using Beers criteria 2015 further followed up least once 6 months adverse events, telephonically. The results analyzed suitable regression models correlation analysis. Results Three hundred eighty patients average age 65.4 ± 4.7 years enrolled. Eighty‐eight percent the people having greater than equal to ailments. Each patient was prescribed 6.7 2.1 with 65% PIMs. Out total drugs, 15% satisfying There 63 drug reactions (ADRs) reported. A statistically significant observed among comorbidities, number medications, PIMs, ADRs. Quality life (QOL) negatively corelated polypharmacy female sex. Conclusion risk‐benefit analysis part parcel especially patients. In order decrease risks associated there need indigenous guidelines intensive training.
